This month was a very special forum as our chapter hosted the Inland Valley and Southwest Riverside WCR chapters at Woodhaven Country Club, Friday July 9. WCR State President Elect Sherri Souza inspired us with commending our leadership development and charged us with continuing to professionally service our clients in this exciting changing market.
Don Kent of Riverside County Treasurer – Tax Collector gave us insight into tax offices, tax flow and stated real estate tax collection has actually gone up this year as banks are paying real estate taxes on bank owned properties. Popular, funny and extremely knowledgeable C.A.R Attorney Senior Counsel Stella Ling covered criteria for the Federal Homebuyer 9/30 extension, reviewed several California laws, upcoming 7/1/2011 Carbon Monoxide Disclosure requirements and much more. She reminded us to check out the legal webinars C.A.R has available, including a webinar reviewing the revised Residential Purchase Agreement.
Michele Martinez-Barrera Principal Auditor Appraiser with the Riverside Assessor County Clerk-Recorder’s Office discussed Prop 13 and Prop 8, and the recent review of 400,000 homes for possible value adjustments. The finale included a Realtor panel comprised of Marie Bradfield & Maggie Hickman of Realty Executives Desert Cities, Curtis Doss of Canear Real Estate and Denyse Wilson Century 21 Wright who gave real life examples of how to market to clients in different age groups. Great group, great meeting!
